This is my story…

My name is Skye and I’m from Plattsmouth, Nebraska. You’ve probably never heard of it. I’m 23 years old and have lived here for 14 years of my life. I’ve always had a deep interest in film and cinema as a whole and it wasn’t until I got older that I decided to fully explore that interest in what I’ve decided to call Weekend Movie Night Reviews (a.k.a. the site you’re reading this on right now). That name may sound like I came up with it in 5 minutes and that’s because I did, but I’ve committed to a brand and I’m sticking to it!

Ever since I was a child I’ve always had a goofy personality and have looked for any excuse I can to show it off to the rest of the world which is more or less why this website exists in the first place. That and I really enjoy the act of talking about movies. When it comes to art whether it be film, painting, drawing, music, writing, theatre, photography, or anything else I can’t think of right now, I love talking about it. At the end of the day, that’s ultimately what the artists want us to do and I love to embrace that aspect of the process.

One day I hope to create a community of people who love discussing movies just as much as I do who can also offer their unique takes on films and possibly even challenge my preconceived notions about them. In the end it’s my belief that the only way we grow as people is if we get outside of our comfort zone and be open to the ideas of others, so never be afraid to disagree in the comments section (just so long as it’s civil and respectful to one another). Hopefully we’ll find our personalities to be a good match in the future and I’ll refrain from making too many corn puns. I’m from Nebraska so it’ll happen eventually.

This blog is intended to be an outlet for movie lovers such as you who’s reading this right now to share your opinions on movies, engage with several other people like you who also enjoy discussing film (including me), and offer suggestions on movies you’d like to see me cover as well. Never will this blog be anything other than movie-related. I’m sorry if you were hoping for me to discuss cooking recipes, but this is a movie blog. It just wouldn’t fit.

With that all out of the way, I hope you’re just as excited as I am to embark on this epic journey through cinema history! Whenever you’re ready, go ahead and take a look at one of my reviews, feel free to leave a comment, and let me know what you’d like to see on the site! I look forward to engaging with y’all!

Well I managed to get through the whole About page without a corn pun so I’d call that mission a-corn-plished!
